False Confidence & Costco
You may know by now, I get a lot of songs in my guidance. I get other things, too. Emotions, visions, even smells. But, a song almost always shows up, and I am grateful for it.
This one song lately. Man, it has been persistent. It’s actually shown up for my last 3 clients in a row! And, when this happens, I know it’s a sign that we are healing something as a collective.
(Isn’t it nice that we aren’t alone in our healing? I find that many of us are healing similar wounds at the same times.)
“False Confidence” by Noah Kahan. Specifically this line: Don’t take yourself so seriously.
I was in Costco yesterday and a mom was comforting her young son, maybe a 6 year old. I’m not sure what happened in the moments prior, but she was patting him on the shoulder as he walked and telling him, “People are just doing their best.”
And, it struck me, as clear guidance from the Universe does. I repeated it all through Costco. As I walked behind the older gentleman who sauntered slowly right in the middle of the aisle, blocking my progress. People are just doing their best.
As I waited to get around the people lined up for samples of pudding. People are just doing their best.
That magical statement sucked all the judgement and seriousness out of my shopping trip. He isn’t walking too slow - he’s just doing his best. She isn’t blocking my way, she is just doing her best.
It’s okay that I’m frustrated by slow shoppers in Costco. Because I am doing my best.
And, in the end, I don’t take myself too seriously.
